All Hands on Deck!!

In preparation for our re-opening, our Day Center needs some sprucing up! We are in need of volunteers who are willing to help out with cleaning, sorting items, organizing donations, filing, light data entry, painting, etc.. If you are able to assist in any of these areas, please contact Jessica Schwartz, Director, at 215-943-0402 or director@fplb.org.

Volunteer Training and news about going forward

As mentioned at the Town Hall meeting we held earlier this month, we would like to get the ball rolling on volunteer training!

Angelica Johnson, our regional director, will be conducting our first meeting on Sunday, May 6th at 2pm. This Volunteer Training Session will be ideal for all of our new volunteers, as well as anyone who feels they would like a refresher. The meeting will be held in the school building at Assumption BVM, 1900 Meadowbrook Rd, Feasterville, 19053. The school building is located adjacent to the church. (The date and location of the next meeting are TBD.)

We look forward to a great turnout as we continue our progress in reopening!

A few other things that were covered at the Town Hall Meeting . . .

  • Funding: Based on the success of our recent promotion of $10 on the 10th and match campaign we reached our target goal of the amount of funds needed to reopen.
  • Day Center: Delta Community Supports has continued to hold space available for FPLB at the Woodbourne Road location under a long-term, reasonable cost lease plan.
  • Congregations: Coordinators and clergy have continued to provide feedback and identified several key areas for operational improvement going forward. A majority of the congregations from our network plan to continue as host/support congregations and we will gain a few new congregations as well.
  • Director: We have begun the search for a new director. We have already received numerous resumes and are reviewing to identify the most qualified candidates.

As always, thank you for your support and dedication!

April 3rd Town Hall Meeting

Moving forward together

One thing is clear from all the conversations in past months: the number of congregations – the number of people – committed to continuing to serve homeless families with children through Family Promise of Lower Bucks.

Please join us for an all-hands “Town Hall” meeting on Tuesday, April 3 at 7:00 PM to hear exciting news of our progress toward reopening. The meeting will be held at Woodside Presbyterian Church, 1667 Edgewood Rd., Yardley, PA 19067.

Just a few highlights …

  • Funding: Based on the success of our recent promotion of $10 on the 10th and match campaign we reached our target goal of the amount of funds needed to reopen.
  • Day Center: Delta Community Supports has continued to hold space available for FPLB at the Woodbourne Road location under a long-term, reasonable cost lease plan.

A majority of the congregations from our network plan to continue as host/support congregations and we will gain a few new congregations as well.

The need for the type of round-the-clock support offered by Family Promise has not diminished as homelessness, particularly among children, continues to be a serious issue in our community. According to Bucks County’s 2018 Point in Time count 31% of those identified as homeless were children under the age of 18.

Join us for an interactive session with Q&A and get all the latest news as we work to open in the next few months.

Happy Valentine’s Day

What better way to show love this Valentine’s Day than to share your heart with the less fortunate in our community through sustainable giving?

You can help Family Promise make a difference in the lives of homeless families in time for Valentine’s Day. Please register for our $10 on the 10th giving campaign. If only 1,000 people would commit to giving just $10 a month (less than 35 cents per day) Family Promise would have the funds to service families year after year. Plus, when you sign up by the end of February, the first six months of your recurring pledge will be matched.*

In this month of love, give from the heart to those who need it most.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

* The match incentive includes all donations made between Nov. 28, 2017 and Feb. 28, 2018. Single and company matched donations, and the first six months of $10 on the 10th donations will be matched up to a total of $30,000.

The Eagles Won the Super Bowl!

Keep that winning feeling alive …

Family Promise would like to recruit you to special teams. We are looking to draft as many individuals as we can to sign up for our $10 on the 10th program. By spending a small fraction of what it cost for your Super Bowl festivities, you can make a big difference! All you have to do is visit our website at www.fplb.org/new, and make your play. If just 1,000 team members would pledge $10 on the 10th of every month, we would be fully funded . . . end of game!

Don’t forget, all donations made by Feb 28th will be matched up to a total of $30,000*!!

  • a single donation – counts as double
  • a donation submitted for company match by Feb 28th – counts as double

AND . . .

  • when you sign up for our $10 on the 10th program – THE FIRST SIX MONTH’S WORTH OF YOUR PLEDGE WILL BE MATCHED!

Together, we can all be victorious, and be the champions in the lives of the homeless children in our community. So take a time out and visit our website now, and be on a winning team . . . Family Promise of Lower Bucks!

*The company match incentive includes all donations made between Nov. 28th, 2017 and Feb. 28th, 2018. Single and company-matched donations will be doubled, and the first six months of $10 on the 10th donations will be matched up to a total of $30,000.

Double Your Impact by Donating Now

Blessings to all and a Happy New Year!

‘Tis the season to be grateful.

To think about all you have, and to be someone else’s personal miracle when you can. As you know, we are working hard to re-open Family Promise to provide a caring support system for children and their families who are homeless. It can be especially difficult this time of year for some of our neighbors when the cold and snow make it especially challenging for those without adequate shelter.

Please consider making a donation to Family Promise of Lower Bucks to continue our important work. All donations made between November 28, 2017 and February 28, 2018 will be matched, up to a total of $30,000.

  • A single donation – counts as double.
  • If you enroll in our $10 on the 10th sustainable giving program (see info to the right), the first six months of your annual promise will be matched.
  • If you submit for a company match received by February 28 – it will also count as double.

You have the opportunity to make double the impact today!

‘Tis the season

Dec 13, 2017

Dear Friends,

I like snow! I had a wonderful time driving around last Saturday, flakes falling, out Christmas shopping for family and friends. The weather caused many to stay at home, and I definitely got a better parking spot at the mall than I’d expect two weeks before Christmas! A day that was my own personal miracle, for a lot of private and practical reasons.

But what was a blessing to me – warm and safe – presents a challenge for many others in our own backyard. When you’re homeless, snow can mean measuring out your gas money to run the engine enough to keep your car reasonably warm … since that’s where you’re sleeping. Or trying to find a way to pay for a motel day-to-day. Worst of all, it can mean being exposed to the elements outdoors. It’s been cold enough that the first few Code Blue days were already called by AHTN, with the volunteers responding and the guests grateful to be indoors overnight.

‘Tis the season to be grateful.

To consider all you have and to become someone else’s personal miracle when you can. As you know, we are working hard to re-open Family Promise as soon as humanly (and divinely) possible. So that we can provide a caring support system for children and their families who are homeless.

We ask you to seriously consider making a sacrifice of generosity this season. Follow your heart. For certain, we hope you will share your gifts with us. But I believe in an infinite and abundant God who will supply all our needs – and that there is more than enough to go around, and around, and around. If not us, please share with any of the wonderful non-profits and congregations in our community that strive to make a permanent difference in the lives of others.

If you consider Family Promise of Lower Bucks, you’ll want to know that you have the opportunity to make double the impact right now. All donations made between November 28, 2017 and February 28, 2018 will be matched, up to a total of $30,000.

  • A single donation – counts as double.
  • If you log in to our website (www.fplb.org/new) and enroll in our $10 on the 10th sustainable giving program, the first six months of your annual promise will be matched.
  • If you submit for a company match received by February 28 – it will also count as double.

‘Tis the season …

Blessings to all of you that have dedicated your time, your money and your prayers to our mission.

On behalf of and with heartfelt thanks from the Board and volunteers of Family Promise of Lower Bucks,

Lisa Kulan
